How to Beat a Frenemy

Unfortunately, you’ve learned or experienced what a frenemy is. You know great ways to spot these creatures. If you’re still questioning what your friend’s motives are, read the introduction. What now?  For one reason or another, she wants to make you feel insecure. Now, you just have to beat this chick at her own game!

Tactic: Distance
Result: She can’t hurt you. If you keep this girl at arm’s bay, you are protecting yourself from heartache. Don’t tell her your deepest secrets. Don’t always be available for her. She’s just looking to hurt you anyway, so don’t give her the satisfaction.
Tactic: Labels
Result: Eventually, you’ll see her for what she is. If you quit labeling this girl as your friend, you will eventually not see her that way.Calling her an acquaintance mentally makes her one. A friend is someone you care about. It’s only those people that can bring you down.
Tactic: Happiness
Result: She will lose her purpose. If her constant attacks at your insecurities are falling on happy, deaf ears, there is no point in her continuing. Let her little game of pettiness only have one player (her). She’ll get tired of playing alone and move on to her next victim that cares about what she has to say.
Never let anyone steal you joy! Try these simple little tricks, and see how much better you feel.

This girl’s sharp, quick wit may not be for the faint of heart, but those close to her say that she’s caring and hilariously funny. Reality TV, a not -so-small sweet tooth, nail polish, and fashion are but a few of her guilty pleasures. Her obsession with writing and hobby of interviewing brought her to conducting a few interviews with fashion designers and makeup artists for her fashion blog, Hey There, Stylish! Curiosity for different lifestyles and experiences lead to more interviews and ultimately became Gal Pal Magazine. Like many college girls, Lauren is a media strategies major who spends her days going to class; most of her late nights are reserved for studying and her night job.
